ok well first of i own a 1988 jaguar xj6 and so far its been tough to get help?
i tried adding a aftermarket stereo to the car its a sony x plod but i wont get any sound i tried buying the harness but cant find it any where so i tried connecting it directly to the wiring but wont work either the stereo turns on and if the vehicle is on park i am able to listen to music but ass soon as i start driving it mutes or something until i hit a bump or a pot hole but it only sounds for a few seconds and mutes again. can some one help please ran out of ideas?
check each of the wires going to the speakers from the stereo. if these are ok then go from the opposite direction and check the wires at the speakers leading to the stereo.
if these look ok, disconnect one of the speakers and add your own wire and new speaker just to test the system.
one of these should work, if not try the stereo in a different car to make sure this is working properly
it sounds more like a loose connection or damaged wire as its working sometimes
