What brand and what type of picks should I buy?
I'm attempting to build my own guitar. I bought a 2007 US Fender Strat Nitro Body. I'm using and old Strat Neck of mine that I really like. The guitar is set up for a humbucker at the bridge and a single strat pickup in the middle and at the neck. I was looking at the EMG pickups, the SA/SA/81 combo. Then I started looking at the Seymour-Duncan website and they have some cool sounding pickups like the Super Distortion Humbucker. I'm confused to what to get. I'm going to be mainly play Hard Rock, Classic Rock and metal.
Can any body suggest any ideas? Thanks
Unfortunately what works for someone else may not work for you.
You should maybe set up the guitar wiring with some easy to disconnect plugs - buy a couple of different pickups and put the other side of the plugs onto them - that way You Can plug one in and try it, then remove it, plug another one in and try it - and so on.
It also depends on what kind of amp you will be using, fx, the strings you use, and most all - personal preference.
