How do I cut and mold a brass round?
Found some 3/16" x 3' brass rounds at Lowe's this weekend. For the uninitiated (as I was prior to finding this), a "round" is a long and thin piece of metal...much like a piece of wire that doesn't bend very easily.
Which leads me to my questions...
What's the best way to cut this? I have a jigsaw, which I think would work fine assuming I have the right blade.
What's the best way to bend and mold this? What I want to do is very simple...I just want to bend it in such a way that I can create a custom-sized holder for an object I want to display.
The top half of this ornament hanger I found on Amazon is the best depiction of what I am trying to recreate...

Appreciate your input.
Hi,
I do both on my video "A horn is born" on youtube.
I use a fine tooth blade on a bandsaw.... they work fine, on a jigsaw you might be able to find a metal cutting blade. If your just doing one or two cuts use a hack saw, much smoother and more precise.
To bend make a wooden form and just bend around it...... again see my video above.
If the rod is very hard and "springy" then use a torch and heat it red hot and let it cool to temper it and make it soft and easy to bend.
feel free to email me.
