I have a 94 Dodge Spirit E-Brake Cable pedal release is broken. The Pedal is stuck any help?
I just pressed down on the Emergency Brake pedal and it went straight to the floor and the release handle became disconnected when the pedal went all the way down to the floor. How do I get it unstuck?
The release handle is connected to the pedal assembly by a rod, held on with a clip at each end. If the rod is disconnected at the handle end, just pull back on the rod, and the pedal should release. If it has come off the pedal end, you need to find where it attaches to the pedal assembly and pull that lever back to release the pedal. There is a small lever at the top rear of the pedal assembly that will have the same type of clip on it that the handle uses. It can be a real tough place to get to without removing the lower dash panel. Sometimes the pedal will drop to the floor if the actual brake cable breaks, or the pedal assembly develops a fault. If this happens, the release may work properly but there is no spring action to return the pedal to the top. Try pullung up on the pedal with your toe while you work the release handle to rule this out. Now you need to go and get the cause of the problem repaired properly, so whatever is broken doesn't affect any safety items.
