Guitarists only!?
I own a mesa boogie road king 2 head, with the matching 4x12 cab. I just bought the 2x12 road king cab last night. I am aware that tubes in amplifiers have a "life" to them. Can anyone recommend a solid state head (no tubes) that would sound good with my 2x12 cab??? (for practicing right now i have a Peavey envoy 110 and desire something better sounding). I'm looking to spend $300-$800
I own the Boss GT-8. Could i run that straight into the cab??? and if so, would it be 4ohms or 8???
You need something to power the cabinet (a head or another amp), so if it does make a sound when you plug the pedal directly into it, it won't sound good! As far as solidstate heads go, I would just go to a good locally owned shop and try stuff out. Marshall makes some decent solid state amp heads. I don't know much about brands and things. I do know that you need to run an amp through a cabinet so that it is powered!
