Help me wire my stratocaster guitar - see photo link ... !?

Ok, this is a pre-loaded pickguard I got off ebay for my strat copy. Which wire (from 1 and 2) goes to the input jack, which is the earth? New to this, pro advice much appreciated!
Technically, both wires go to the Output Jack. Although it is not easy to see from the picture, it appears that wire number 2 would be the signal ground (sleeve connection on output jack) and wire number 1 is the hot lead (tip connection on output jack). As a double-check, make sure the signal ground lead is electrically coupled to wherever the three common pickup grounding wires are connected, plus to the metal potentiometer cases. The hot lead will originate only from the center terminal of the volume control. See http://www.guitarelectronics.com/product/WDUSSS5L1201 for a pictorial of a typical Stratocaster wiring arrangement. Best regards, Dana
