What is the tone and volume buttons on a guitar Epiphone, exactly? How about changing the rhythm / treble?

Pickup selector, volume and tone control almost all the work of the same on All Guitars (with some exceptions almost). This may be more technician what they really want, but I'm funny like that: Microphone selector: Uh ... select the selection that you use. It's a little funny that are labeled in different guitars. His is Rhythm / Treble. In my Les Paul is Rhythm / Solo. Most of my guitars have nothing marked on them. Position the microphone selected acute closest to the bridge.
