guitar materials mix, good or bad?
a basswood body with maple carved top, customwound humbucker from EVH, maple birdseye neck and fretboard, a floyd rose and low friction pots. good or bad? thnx 
It kind of helps to know what type of sound you're aiming for.
For me personally, I'm not really a fan of maple. A little too trebly, not enough low end. Basswood is also rather bright, but I like basswood a lot because its lighter, and I prefer to play standing up. A bigger basswood body (ie more Les Paul-ish) will have a decent enough low end for me that I can play good rhythm, so I like that over the thinner bodies and anything maple anywhere on the guitar.
I really, really don't like floating trems, as they're a ton of maintenance, and when something goes wrong it *really* goes wrong. Having played on stage, and having just about everything go wrong that could, I feel that I need a more dependable Fixed Bridge. I find sustain and tuning stability to be better in a fixed bridge than even a well-setup floating bridge. I would say that if you're going with a floating bridge setup to get locking nuts. Good lord, it makes a huge difference!
I haven't used low friction pots, either, so I can't comment on those. I'm sure there's nothing wrong with them, whatever the benefit may be.
Overall, it sounds like a guitar that would work well as a Strat or Tele, and give you that type of a sound - thinner, "quackier", with a bit of high-output crunch from your bridge pickup (where I assume your humbucker is).
Personally, its not my setup of choice - I can't stand anything Strat-ish, I need that Les Paul-ish warmth and chunk.
For those who are into that type of a sound, I'd say it sounds like a great guitar, though!
